The Sandbox is an improvisational duo which deftly blends organic rhythms, acoustic sounds and home-grown looping software to take you on a guided trip through the exotic sound-worlds of their post-psychedelic imaginations. They showcase an extraordinary degree of musical communication – Steve and Warren have known each other since they went to PS 209 in Queens together, and they started playing together over 30 years ago! Combine the fluidity of their ideas with their traditional instruments, plus new electronic techniques, and you get a heady brew that can still make you sway and groove. They have just released their first CD, Play Date.
 
Warren Sirota's years writing the "Electronic Guitarist" column for Guitar Player magazine established him as a "guitarist's guitarist" when it comes to extending the vocabulary and grammar of the guitar with modern technology. He uses his own custom "live looping software" to create musical effects that cannot be duplicated with any existing commercial technology.
 
Steve Rubin is a drummer/percussionist with varied roots and influences from R&B, jazz, rock, funk and more recently electronic. He performed for years during the disco dance band era and regularly performs with a variety of bands in the greater NY region. He performs with his acoustic drum set augmented by an instrument that looks like a spider from Mars, but which reveals itself, to be a powerful worldbeat-influenced percussion synthesizer.
